Laboratory/Pathology

Lab technician working at UCVH.

The Laboratory, under Medical Supervision of a Pathologist, is composed of two main areas called Clinical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology. Clinical Pathology processes your blood, urine, other fluids, cultures, etc. Anatomic Pathology processes surgical tissue and cytological (PAP) specimens. At UCVH, anatomic specimens are sent to our pathologist at his/her institution of residence while most all of the clinical specimens are tested here.

The Laboratory at UCVH is equipped with "State of the Art" instrumentation which offers a wide variety of testing that can be used by your physician. These tests help your physician in evaluating your condition and making the appropriate judgments necessary for your maximum health.

To assist your physician in your treatment he/she may order tests that require a blood specimen. No matter the time of day, our staff is available to collect and run the test. Sometimes it may be necessary for the specimen to be collected at what may seem like a "bad" time for you. Every effort is made to collect specimens at the patient's convenience, however, some tests must be collected at specified times for proper interpretation.

If you have any questions regarding your lab test or desire any information, please feel free to ask any of our laboratory technologists, or call us at (603) 388-4248.
